Pastels may not be everyone's go-to for Christmas decorating, but I’m here to tell you that a pastel Christmas is a charming and refreshing alternative to the traditional holiday color scheme of red, green, and white. While I do love the classic look, I wanted my Christmas decorations to complement the existing color palette in my home. By sticking to pastels, I didn’t have to swap out any of my everyday decor, just added a few festive touches to make everything feel cohesive and seasonal.
For those of you who don’t know, pastels are a staple throughout my home. My front door is even pink, for goodness’ sake! So when it came to decking the halls for Christmas, I wanted my decor to match my home’s soft aesthetic. Here are my 3 tips for creating the perfect pastel Christmas that still feels festive but uniquely your own.
1. Pick 2-3 Main Colors for a Cohesive Pastel Christmas Look
One of the easiest ways to create a cohesive pastel Christmas is by choosing 2-3 main colors to guide your decor. You don’t have to go overboard with a rainbow of pastels—keep it simple by selecting a few shades that complement each other. For example, a soft pink, mint green, and gold combination will create a chic and balanced palette. Once you have your key colors, it’ll be much easier to pick out coordinating pieces that flow together seamlessly throughout your space.
2. Repeat Your Colors Throughout the Space
To keep your pastel Christmas decor looking intentional and cohesive, make sure to repeat your chosen colors throughout your home. For instance, if you have pink, gold, and mint green ornaments on your tree, try to bring those same colors into other areas of your decor. You could add a pink ribbon on your mantle, use gold candles on your coffee table, or incorporate mint green into your table settings. Repeating the colors throughout different pieces of decor will help tie everything together and create a balanced, festive feel.
3. Mix and Match from Different Stores
When you’re creating a pastel Christmas, don’t feel like you need to stick to one retailer for all your decor. In fact, mixing and matching pieces from different stores can help you create a more unique and personalized look. I love to shop around and pull together decor that feels special and authentic to my style. For example, most of my tree ornaments came from Michael’s, while I found other decorative pieces at HomeGoods. By shopping at multiple retailers, you can find a wide variety of pastel decor items to create your dream holiday look. Plus, mixing high-end items with budget-friendly finds gives your space that perfect balance.
By following these tips, you’ll be able to create a stunning pastel Christmas that reflects your style and makes your home feel cozy and festive. Whether you’re decorating a tree or setting a pastel-themed holiday table, remember: it’s all about finding colors and pieces that resonate with you and repeat them throughout your decor to achieve a harmonious look. Happy decorating, and may your pastel Christmas be merry and bright!
Until Next Time,
Brittany
